Candy Dulfer as heard on Best Smooth Jazz Podcast  with Rod Lucas

Rod Lucas has been playing Smooth Jazz on British radio since 1971. His Sunday & Thursday programs in the 70's were broadcast on BBC Radio Medway heard in London and South East UK. He also produced the legendary award winning network 'Shades of Soul' hosted by the late Tony 'Shades' Valence.

In those early 70's Rod featured people like Milt Jackson, Stanley Turrentine, Hubert Laws, Oscar Peterson, George Benson, Herbie Hancock, Cal Tjader, Erroll Garner, Ramsey Lewis, Sergio Santos Mendes, Donald Byrd and Roy Ayers.  Styles included Spanish Flamenco guitarists like Paco de Lucia and Luiz Bonfa. Latin singers too, like Maria Helena Toledo.

Herb Alpert added to the whole feel of Smooth Jazz in those days with Rod in the early 70's.
Then other Smooth Jazz artists came along, Bob James & Earl Klugh and all featured in Rod Lucas's nightly BBC programs 'chat n grooves'. Rod would play all kinds of world music that had a sweet cross over 'funky' feel of chilled early 70's Smooth Jazz Grooves. Rod was one of the few in British radio playing it on BBC Radio back in the day.
